San Rafael Tour

See everything from the Butch Cassidy Escape Tour and much more. You will take in the Arches and Slot Canyons of the West Side of the San Rafael Swell and follow them to Eagle Canyon on I-70. This is the last section of US Interstate Highway to be completed because of the difficulties of building in this spectacular terrain. You will continue South to see Hondo Arch, The Chutes of the Muddy River, and the extensive mining and geological exploration that characterized our search for uranium during the cold war. You will be able to see Capitol Reef, the Henry Mountains, Factory Butte, and Temple Mountain, as well as the area so desolate that it was chosen by the Mars Society to simulate living on Mars. From there you will follow the Flat Irons of the San Rafael back to the San Rafael River. This spectacular tour takes approximately 1 1/2 hours - $199 per person, $225 with meal stop at Tavaputs Ranch [More Photos].

Desolation Canyon/San Rafael Tour

See everything in the San Rafael Tour and more. From the San Rafael River we will head up the Outlaw Trail that went from Robbers Roost to Brownís Hole. This route was followed by many outlaws, including Butch Cassidy, Joe Walker, and Elza Lay. We will enter Desolation Canyon at Florence Creek. It is best described in the words of early explorer John Wesley Powell, "...the river is very rapid, and many lateral canyons enter on either side....crags and tower-shaped peaks are seen everywhere, and away above them, long lines of broken cliffs; and above and beyond the cliffs are pine forests, of which we obtain occasional glimpses as we look up through a vista of rocks....We are minded to call this the Canyon of Desolation." From there we will over-fly the ruins of the ancient Fremont Indians that made their home in Nine Mile Canyon and return for a gentle landing back at the airport. - $227 per person, $252 with meal stop at Tavaputs Ranch [More Photos]
